£70 for the first 25 items then £2.50 per item

Inspections are every 6 months for PPE and 12 months for Rigging however exceptional circumstances may shorten the frequency of inspection such as an item being overloaded, heavy usage or being involved in an incident which would need an item inspected prior to its next use.

Some manufacturers such as Stein require a 6 monthly inspection on their lowering bollards .

Extras:

Clean and lubricate Karabiner. £1 per item

Heat shrink Label on rope. £2 per item (you need to supply the original information for this)

Inspection of a quarantined item £10 per item. (min £100 if I come to you)

I completely understand that some people love to have lots of nice new interesting equipment. However, if like one recent client of mine you present over 40 karabiners, 3 cambium savers, a wealth of ropes, slings, 2 harness's, ascenders, prusiks and mechanical prusiks then obviously there's going to be an extra cost to the inspection. Just like tree surgery "time is money".

Please present your kit clean, dry and in a fit state to pass the inspection. Take everything apart to individual items and do some maintenance. Lubricate karabiners, make sure that ropes and prusiks are tagged and replace worn harness bridges etc.

Examine your kit and quarantine any items that you suspect will fail a LOLER Thorough Examination.

Remove any non-LOLER items from your bag such as gloves, spikes, handsaws, sandwich rappers, woodchip etc.

If I'm seeing your kit for the first time then please send me your previous LOLER reports if you have any, receipts are also very handy to clarify dates of purchase and therefore first use.

.

Traceability of items is very important for your LOLER examination. The 2019 recall from Teufelberger regarding some of their ropes (Slaices - splice/sewn ends) highlights the importance of being able to identify the rope by its manufacture date and batch and take them out of service. This goes across the board for equipment.

Prusik loops which are self-tied or splices that you have made yourself are unable to pass a LOLER exam as safe to use.

It’s either PPE or Rigging, it can’t be both.

Each kit bag should be marked with either a kit name, number or purpose. (Gavin's kit or safety kit etc.)

I work Monday to Friday daytime and evenings with some limited availability at weekends for larger firms.

Preferably you would come to me in Lewes and either drop off the kits and wait while I do the inspections or come back to pick them up. Alternatively I can come to your place of work but there will be a charge for time incurred to and from your inspection.

All travel costs to and from the inspection are chargeable @45p per mile driven as well as all tickets for train, bus, underground, ULEZ, tolls, ferry, parking etc.

I try to do examinations together if they are a distance from my home in Lewes to save people travel costs.
